I am Trevor Rizun. I run Rizun Resilience Therapy and this website, rizunresilience.ca. You can reach me at rizunresiliencetherapy@gmail.com about anything on this page.
This is written to be read, not to protect me. If something here is unclear, ask.
The short version
Reading this website is anonymous. I get nothing about you unless you email me, pay me, or train with me. If you train with me I collect health information, because I cannot program safely without it. I do not sell it, share it, or use it for advertising. You can see it, correct it, or have it deleted, and you do not have to give a reason.
Reading the site
There are no analytics on this site. No tracking pixels, no advertising, no social media buttons, no third-party fonts. Nothing on these pages reports back to anyone about you.
Two small things are stored in your own browser, and never leave it:
- whether you switched the background sound on or off, so the site remembers next time
- where the sound was up to, so it does not restart on every page
You can clear both by clearing your browser’s site data.
The server that hosts this site keeps ordinary web logs — the address your request came from, the time, the page, and which browser you used. Those are kept for security and troubleshooting and are not used to build any picture of you.
If you email me
My address is a Gmail account, so Google stores and processes the message the same way it does any email. I keep correspondence with clients while we are working together and for a reasonable period afterwards.
If you pay me
Payments go through Stripe. Stripe collects your name, email, card details and, for anything shipped, a delivery address. I never see your full card number — Stripe handles that and I only see that a payment succeeded, for how much, and who it came from. Stripe has its own privacy policy and processes data in the United States and elsewhere.
If you buy merchandise
Merchandise is sold through my Etsy shop and printed and shipped by Printful. When you buy, you are buying through Etsy, and their privacy policy and Printful’s apply to your order and your shipping address. I see the order and the name on it. I do not have your payment details.
If you train with me
This is the part that matters. To train you safely and usefully I collect:
- your name, contact details and date of birth
- a health history: injuries, conditions, medications, surgeries, anything that changes what is safe for you to do
- measurements: height, weight, girths, body-fat estimates, blood pressure, resting heart rate, heart rate variability, VO2 max and other fitness testing results
- your training records: what you lifted, how far you ran, how it went
- if you choose to complete them, mental-health screening questionnaires such as the PHQ-9, GAD-7, DASS-21 or WHO-5
I collect this to program your training, to keep it safe, and to show you whether it is working. Nothing more.
On the screening questionnaires. They are not diagnoses and I do not treat them as such. I am not a counsellor, a psychologist or a physician. A score at or above a published cut-off is a reason for me to suggest you speak to a doctor, and nothing else. If something you tell me makes me seriously concerned for your safety, I may contact emergency services. That is the only circumstance in which I would pass on what you have told me without asking you first.
Wearable data
I am building a tool that will let a client connect their Garmin account so their resting heart rate, sleep, respiration, heart rate variability and workouts arrive automatically instead of being typed in.
This is not running yet. When it is:
- it will be entirely your choice, and training with me will never depend on it
- you will authorise it yourself, through Garmin’s own screen, with your own account
- you can revoke it yourself at any time, from your Garmin account, without telling me
- I will only take the measurements listed above, not your location or your maps
Until you connect it, I have no access to anything on your watch.
Who else sees your information
Nobody, other than the services named above that are needed to do the thing you asked for — Google for email, Stripe for payments, Etsy and Printful for merchandise, and in future Garmin if you connect it.
I do not sell your information. I do not share it with insurers, employers, or anyone else. If I ever want to use client data in research or writing, I will ask you first, in plain words, on a separate form. You are free to say no, you do not have to give a reason, and your training and your price are exactly the same either way.
If you say yes, your records go into that work under a code rather than your name, and the list linking the code to you is kept separately. Nothing published would ever identify you. You can change your mind at any time, though anything already published cannot be taken back.
Where it is kept and for how long
Client records are kept on my own devices and in the tools named above. I keep them while we are working together and for seven years after we stop, then delete them. If you want them deleted sooner, ask me and I will.
What you can ask me to do
Under Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA) you can:
- ask what I hold about you, and get a copy
- correct anything that is wrong
- withdraw your consent, though that may mean I can no longer train you safely
- ask me to delete what I hold
Email me and I will do it. If I have not handled something properly you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
People under 19
If you are under 19, a parent or guardian consents on your behalf and can see and ask me to delete anything I hold about you.
Changes
If this page changes materially I will change the date at the top. The current version is the one that applies.
