Boxing Coach / Pad-Work Specialist

Two boxers sparring in headgear

For ten years, Trevor trained one-on-one with a Golden Gloves professional boxer — and sparred numerous professional boxers and MMA fighters. That ring time is what he brings to the gym.

He teaches basic boxing skills and movements, plus the related strength training that makes them stick: footwork, timing, defense, and the conditioning behind every punch. Whether you’re new to the sport or sharpening skills you already have, the coaching comes from someone who’s actually been in the ring.

Beyond the physical, boxing is one of the strongest mind-body disciplines there is. A 2022 scoping review in the American Journal of Lifestyle Medicine found non-contact boxing programs significantly reduced symptoms of anxiety, depression, PTSD, and negative symptoms of schizophrenia, while improving mood, self-esteem, confidence, and concentration (Ciaccioni et al., 2022). A 2024 systematic review in Psychology of Sport and Exercise — seventy-two studies on martial arts and combat sports — found consistent evidence that these disciplines sharpen perceptual and inhibition abilities, the cognitive skills that let you read a situation and respond under pressure (Ciaccioni et al., 2024). A 2025 feasibility study in PLOS ONE tested mindfulness-based boxing therapy and saw depression drop fifty-four percent, anxiety fifty-one percent, and distress thirty-six percent, with mindfulness rising seventy-nine percent (Bozdarov et al., 2025). And a 2024 pilot study using brain imaging showed boxers activate more of their prefrontal cortex — the region behind focus, decision-making, and emotional control — during cognitive tasks than non-boxers (PLOS ONE, 2024).

That’s the part most people miss: the ring trains the mind as hard as the body.
